Anniston animal shelter needs donations to help them stay open
An Anniston animal shelter is in jeopardy of closing.
A clerical error at the League for Animal Welfare has put the shelter in a bad financial situation.
“It’s become a way of life for me it absorbs my every waking moment and I love it , it is a calling,” said Manager Paula Meadors.
For Meadors, this place is more than just a workplace.
“We are the only no kill shelter in Calhoun County , a non profit,” she said.
Right now they’re working to push through this situation.
“Our phone has been ringing off the hook all day,” said volunteer Tamara Bott. “We’ve had people sending things through pay pal through go fund me.”
With bills to pay and animals to take care of, the shelter needs the community’s help with donations.
“We have to follow state guidelines but we receive no state funding, we receive no federal funding we exist on donations and adoptions,” said Meadors.
Meadors said any little bit helps and will go towards the cause.
